FRATERNITY HISTORY
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated is the first intercollegiate African-American Greek lettered organization, founded on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca , New York on December 4, 1906. These visionaries were Jewel Henry Arthur Callis, Jewel Charles Henry Chapman, Jewel Eugene Kinckle Jones, Jewel George Biddle Kelley, Jewel Nathaniel Allison Murray, Jewel Robert Harold Ogle, and Jewel Vertner Woodson Tandy. The founders of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, respectably known as our "JEWELS," were all stimulating individuals who envisioned the fraternity as a guiding light of hope for African-American men. Since the organization's founding in 1906, more than 150,000 men have joined Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
